Nails ~ Upcoming Designs

Over the past few days, I have been completing a few nail art wheels. I have created a mixture of designs, all of them wearable for everyday use or fancy dress. As well as explaining what colours I have used, I plan to show tutorials on how to create these easy designs :) I am a complete nail art amateur myself with no training so if I can do them, anyone can do them! I look forward to sharing with you the journey I took to creating the designs!

Nails ~ Pop Art Nails

On this rainy Sunday, I have been flicking through Instagram looking for nail art inspiration and I noticed that pop art and brush strokes nail designs were regularly popping up, so I decided to do my take on the design :) I nails are currently a bit uneven and this design doesn't require long nails. Its great for hiding uneven nails! I wanted the base coat to be a bit more subtle than bright white, so I used Leighton Denny 'Chiffon' which gives a gorgeous pink tone! I grabbed a few bright colours from my collection (which where pretty much primary colours plus black and white!). The yellow is Bourjois 39 Jaune Trendy, the red is Miss Sporty 304 Manga, the blue is Hema 835, and the white and black are both from Barry M.

Next, I attempted the brush stroke effect! Taking the polish, I brushed off the excess amount on the rim of the bottle as well as brushing on a piece of paper (as I want the design to look like it has been dragged across instead of looking like a big blob!) I then used the polish brush to gently stroke on a sweep of colour. Once the primary colours had dried, I finished off the design with a couple of strokes of the black and white to give it that extra pop. Once everything had dried, I sealed it all with a topcoat.

This is a really easy nail design to do as there are no real rules, you can add as much or as little as you like!

Shopping Trip - Tiger, Cambridge

I recently took a little trip around a shop called Tiger. It is a Danish shop and the only way I can really describe what the shop is 'an IKEA version of an home accessory shop'.

I was like a kid in a candy shop! They had such a variety of different and unusual items, and above are a selection of my purchases - a neon pink rhino-shaped rubber, 3 rolls of checkered tape and a beetle in an acrylic block. 

I plan to used the checkered tape on the sides of my shelves to make them look more interesting and colourful and I plan to upload the results soon! 

I couldn't not buy the neon pink rhino, its pretty damn awesome! The acrylic block insect was a chance find, hidden away at the back of the shelves. I love nature and animals, I find both incredible breath-taking. Its just a cool little object that can be a great source of inspiration for me.

I am a graphic design graduate who is about to embark into the big wide world! Throughout my life so far, I have been surrounded by a creative and art-based environment and this has encouraged and taught me to see the world around me in a different light, seeing everything as a piece of design! A big past-time of mine is to drink tea at every given opportunity. 

I adore to paint my nails and I'm on a constant hunt for the latest nail art trends. I collect anything vintage and I have a strange addiction of collection wrapping paper. I'm a secret fan of dinosaurs, and seeing as I spent most of my childhood learning everything about them, I am determined to make sure my childhood was not in vain, so to this day, dinosaurs play a big part in my life. Since I'm permanently on a budget seeing as I am a poor student, I use all materials around me that I can afford, and often I am surprised with the amazing quality of results!

This blog will be a mixture of things, from nail art designs I do, my photography, fashion and textiles that inspire me and a view possible DIY tutorials. One thing that will consistent throughout this blog will be colour. 

Colour plays a huge part in my design work as well as my everyday life, I hope by looking at my blog, you will be as passionate about colour as I am!
